State Steering Committee (SSC)

With the purpose of increasing the participation of industries, Shri Alok Kumar ji, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in March 2021, created a State Steering Committee that aims at the successful implementation of the Apprenticeship Scheme, Dual System Training (DST) and On-the-Job training (OTJ) programs. The State Steering Committee has senior government representation from multiple relevant State Departments as well as nominated participants from Industry Associations and Non-Governmental Social Sector. The primary goals of the SSC are: Strategic advice for interventions regarding scheme implementation and industry participation, mobilization of resources and stakeholder roles and responsibilities, setting of smart goals across realistic timelines, active monitoring of progress and reviewing implementation strategy. Below mentioned are the details of the industry and social sector members in the State Steering Committee for Apprenticeship, DST and OJT schemes:

First State Steering Committee Roundtable

The first-ever State Steering Committee Roundtable for Apprenticeship and Dual System Training was organized at the Lok Bhawan on July 15 on ‘World Youth Skills Day’ to discuss the promotion of youth employment through Chief Minister Promotion Scheme.
The roundtable was chaired by Shri Alok Kumar ji (IAS), Secretary to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Secretary, Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Kunal Silku ji (IAS), Mission Director, Skill Development Mission and Director, Training and Employment, represented the host department. At the Roundtable, industry associations and government departments discussed ways to implement the Apprenticeship Scheme. Members of the State Steering Committee and government officials discussed the potential next steps. Shri Alok Kumar ji and Shri Kunal Silku ji also interacted with ITI students who are presently pursuing Apprenticeships. These students joined the Roundtable virtually and shared their experiences and grievances.
