PMU Support

RightWalk will assist the Directorate of Training and Employment, Uttar Pradesh in the effective implementation of Apprenticeship Scheme, Dual System Training and On-The-Job training across Uttar Pradesh through its 25-member strong Project Management Unit (PMU) and implementation team. The Apprenticeship Scheme is set to benefit a large number of youth in the state by opening the doors of employment for them and tackling the pressing problem of youth unemployment.

Primary tasks of the PMU:

(1) To work closely with the state government and formulate a strategy to help the government implement the Apprenticeship Scheme, Dual System Training (DST) and On-the-Job training (OTJ) programs

(2) To spread awareness among ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) students about the benefits of joining as Apprentices. An Apprenticeship helps students earn while they learn through the stipend that the get, enhances their employability helps them in skill enhancement/development

(3) The PMU district managers and coordinators spread across various districts in the state like Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Agra and Bareilly are presently helping students register on the Apprenticeship portal. More districts will be added in the near future

(4) The PMU team in Lucknow is working closely with the government to enthuse industries and establishments to engage Apprentices. Here are the key reasons why companies should hire Apprentices: Steady stream of skilled workforce at entry-level, Apprenticeship route costs less than lateral hiring, no obligation to hire Apprentices on permanent rolls, it exempts them from contributing to EPF and ESI, it is considered a part of good corporate governance and expenses incurred in the training can be claimed as CSR expenses.

(5) To work closely with the state government to promote benefits of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Chief Minister Promotion Scheme (CMAPS). Under NAPS, 25% of the prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs 1,500 per month per Apprentice will be reimbursed by the government to all employers who engage Apprentices. Under Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (CMAPS), reimbursement of an additional Rs 1,000/- stipend per month will be borne by the Uttar Pradesh government.
