The ₹ 5,000 Scheme
Giving a boost to the implementation of RTE Act in UP, the state government, in an event, organized by RightWalk Foundation on the occasion of Universal Children’s day, launched a new initiative to provide financial assistance to primary school kids from below poverty line (BPL) families studying in private schools.
Inaugurating the scheme at Lok Bhawan, Ex-Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav distributed ₹ 5,000 cheques to 10 underprivileged children in the presence of their parents. 90 other kids also received the cheques during the event.
The purpose behind the scheme was to aid more than 17,000 poor children who got admission in private schools under RTE. The plan extended financial support of ₹ 5,000 per child under section 12 (c) of the RTE for meeting the kids’ basic education- related expenses.
RightWalk Foundation (RWF) collaborated with the state government to roll out the initiative.
Online Portal Launch
On the same occasion, an online portal (http://rte25.upsdc.gov.in/) – another initiative of RWF in collaboration with the state government – was also launched to make admissions under RTE more convenient and transparent.
RWF also presented their progress report to the Ex CM who expressed his appreciation for its efforts and encouraged RWF to work towards securing quality education for even more deprived kids.
